Most applications do not generate revenues from paid downloads, but they serve other purposes. They can generate revenue with adjacent services like advertisements, in-app purchases or as a channel for larger service offerings, like mobile payments, retail, customer service, auction sites, banking applications or engaging customers with your brand.

After a few days since last release we have prepared a new version for our users. Not many changes in this short time, but two are really important. From now you can run Instatest in the cloud directly from Eclipse (from eclipse project as well as from APK file). We also fixed the strange problem which recently occurred quite often (and prevented user from recording from APK). For more details keep with us and read below:

A cloud service isn’t really a cloud service if it cannot be accessed through an API. For instance think about Facebook, Twitter or Salesforce.com – none of those would be what they are today if they hadn’t opened their APIs to their ecosystem. By allowing others to build on top of your service and integrate it more tightly to their own software development process allows our customers and partners to build even more value on top of Testdroid.
We have used this API ourselves already for a while to integrate Testdroid Recorder and Testdroid Cloud seamlessly together. Now we are opening the use of this API to all Testdroid Cloud Enterprise users. There is even a command line tool to use Testdroid Cloud API from your build scripts and Continuous Integration configuration. If you are not a Testdroid Cloud Enterprise user but you would like to try it out, just drop a line at support@bitbar.com and we will activate the API for you to try it out.
Having an open API to integrate Testdroid to other services gives very interesting an seriously value adding possibilities for integrating more services around Testdroid. There are a couple of such projects ongoing so watch this space for some game changing partnership announcements…
More info aboout API see docs.testdroid.com.

Every Android developer knows how challenging it is to properly handle different screen sizes and different permissions. But there are other issues bugging developers. Let’s take an application, which works and looks fine on phone Y with resolution 480×800 and assume that it works & look OK also on phone X with the same resolution. During the testing it becomes clear that on phone X application just crashes at some point although on phone Y it doesn’t happen? And the difference is OS version: Tree View between versions of Android SDK. If your code is based on hard assumptions related to Tree View, you might have a problem.
